It was an absolutely beautiful day. But don't let this picture deceive you- it was freezing!
I made them take jumping pictures :] hehe
We walked along the pier, checked out the beach, and then my dad and I sat back while my mom took off her shoes and headed towards the water to feel the Atlantic ocean. She loooved it.
After discovering Coney Island, we headed into the city to go to the famous Lombardi's Pizza. (Third time going here- and its amazing every time.)
Then my dad bought a hat!
And my mom got some rice pudding!!
Evan and I discovered this place while he was out here- its called Rice to Riches and it has soooo many different flavors with interesting names. The only names I can seem to remember though are "The Corner of Cookies & Cream" and "Sex Drugs and Rocky Road."
We had a little extra time before meeting up with a friend of my moms, so I took them to check out china town. They got to experience people whispering "Rolex! Rolex!" and "Gucci!" among other name brands as they walked by. It was fun :] I should have taken a picture of one of those guys... oops
Then that time came around and we decided to meet up with Jen (my moms friend / scuba-dive instructor) at 1849 because my dad didn't have enough wings from the night before- and if we are being honest with each other here- you can't beat bomb .20 cent wings.
Anyways, we had good drinks, tasty wings, and great conversation with Jen at 1849- turns out that she has played "Tour Guide" on multiple occasions- so this night I got to sit back and enjoy the ride for a bit while Jen took the reins for me :]
We went back to Times Square- where we got to see the Naked Cowboy. Its this guy that plays music and takes funny pictures with people that will give him money. My mom was one of those people- and yes I took a picture- but I don't feel comfortable posting such a picture of my mom with this guy on my blog. So here is one with this random chick-
After all that excitement- Jen took us to TKTS- which is a place in Times Square where you can buy Broadway show tickets for the same day for up to 50% off.
Before we could get tickets though- a lady stopped us and talked us into checking out an Off-Broadway show (that has been running for about 51 years now) called The Fantasticks. (I think it was a mutual agreement between the four of us when the lady gave us free-drink tickets to the play. easy-decision.)
When we went to the show- we found out why it was considered an off-broadway show. Apparently broadway shows have a minimum of 500 audience members, and off-broadway shows have a maximum of 499 audience members. In any case- it was small but it was still pretty cute.
Stealing the words from the bartender- the play was like an upside-down-Romeo-and-Juliet-type-play. The fathers faked hating each other to trick their kids into falling in love with one another.. A reverse-psychology type deal. It was definitely fun, but definitely not broadway.
After the show we did a little shopping and hangin out in the middle of Times Square.
