The best word to describe Saturday is "Exhausting." It went from being soooo amazing, to absolutely horrible- leaving me feeling completely defeated by the time I arrived home.
So the story begins..
I got up around 5:30am. Got ready. And headed to the city to meet up with my church for a hike in New Paltz, NY... Not only was our train under construction and would only take us to a certain stop, but another train stalled in front of us- making us all get out, walk about a mile to the shuttle bus, take that to another train stop, and figure out how to get to where we needed to go with the trains available... I barely made it.. but I made it!
After almost a 2 hour drive to New Paltz, we reached out destination- the Mohonk Preserve. We hiked through this gorgeous trail..
We also did some rock climbing! We climbed that big mountain behind me in this picture..
This is a little more than half way up the mountain.
And this is at the very top!
It wasn't too bad, but I definitely had to exert myself and think about what I was doing to not get hurt climbing up that mountain. It was a lot of fun though, soo much fun. And the view was amazing. The pictures really don't do it justice.
Here are a few other cool pictures I took on the way back.
After a really fun and beautiful hike- we hung around New Paltz for a couple more hours, then headed back to the city. Once I was back- it was time to meet up with Wanda and her daughters one last time before they go home! On my way to check out a karaoke bar for them- I took a picture of the Empire State Building :]
About one beer and a half hour later- they met up with me at the karaoke bar and sang their hearts out :] It was a lot of fun.. after us all singing about 10 songs in a row, I think the few people in line after us must have left because they didn't come up to get the mic from us when it was their turn. Thats okay- we sang the songs for them :] hahaha
It wasn't until I imported all my pictures that I found this video that they must have recorded while I was in the bathroom.. hahaha
After the karaoke bar, we went to 1849 for wings. (I'm telling you- I LOVE this place! obviously..)
At around 12:30am I sent them in the right direction back to their hotel, and I started heading home myself. Since my usual train home was under construction this weekend- I had to take a different train home, where I would then take the shuttle to another train stop, and get on that train to get home..
Unfortunately, this is not what happened. After getting up so early, hiking, traveling so much, then partying with the girls- I was exhausted and closed my eyes for a minute. And thats when my really amazing day turned horrible.
I had closed my eyes at just the wrong time. I opened them back up right as the doors were closing at the stop for the shuttle. I ran over to the doors to try to squeeze through but it was too late- and I got my poor little fingers smashed in the process :[
To make a long and miserable story short- I got lost in Brooklyn. After the first hour of traveling home on the train, getting off at the wrong stop, walking another hour alone in the wrong direction, being misdirected my police officers, finally finding a subway stop, and then traveling another hour by taking two trains and a shuttle- I finally arrived home. 3:30am. Tired... Frightened..Miserable.. and just plain Exhausted. =/
However.. I did make it home. I was safe. and everything ended up being okay.
